Like any other stereo-typical female, I love to bake. Now before anyone gets really sexist on me, I only like to bake. Not so fond of cooking, though I will whip up a good meal if I have to.
Baking sort of runs in my family on both sides. Both my granny’s bake, and some can be quite addictive (one does a mean tea cake and the other does unbelievable shortbread). It is no wonder that some of these skills have been passed on to the rest of my family.
In risk of sounding incredibly boastful, I have a very deft hand for decorations. I find the process of decorating a cake quite relaxing, even if I might seem a little stressed on the outside. For me, when I decorate or bake, I’m in the zone. All I need to focus on is to not burn the cake (or whatever I am baking) and what I need to do for it. This is quite hard for me to do sometimes since I have quite the curious personality as well as needing to be aware of what is going on around me due to my deafness. Basically I get distracted easily and am a master procrastinator.
Despite sometimes getting distracted and procrastinating, I am a creative person. I love drawing, sketching, baking, acting, dancing, editing videos, writing stories, sometimes sewing, etc. I love all that, although some (or most) of them I am not particularly good at either. I have all these wonderful plans in my head that relates to all of these, stories I want to write but find so difficult to get on paper, pictures I see in my head but can’t sketch, clothes I want to alter or create but can’t sew, blah blah blah.
I have baked crème brulee, countless cakes and buns….that is pretty much it. Not much on my food resume! Anyway, I hope to bake banoffee pie, apple tarts, rhubarb crumbles, chocolate soufflés, banana bread, strawberry pavlova, lemon meringue, maybe a cheesecake and possibly attempt a Mille Fuielle again (the first time was a complete disaster).
Below are a few pictures from some of my creations, inspired by this, that and the other. Enjoy.

Pineapple is very refreshing for the summer. this recipe can be done with or without sugar (my dad is diabetic) all you need is 1 crushed pineapple, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 3 tsp lemon juice and 3 tbs cornstarch. mix and cook until it looks shinny. then put in pie crust and cover with second pie crust. bake at 425 for 35 min. when crust is golden brown remove from oven and spread honey with a brush.
