If you like ghosts, then check these books out!

If you an avid reader of supernatural, bordering on horror, books filled with ghosts and demons like myself, then you may like these two books; Anna Dressed in Blood and its sequel Girl of Nightmares.

My best friend and I have a love for the same book genre (although she is more vampires and romance kind of girl, without all the death and sad stuff, and I am more action and mystery with quite a bit of death and some sad stuff) and as a result we sometimes book swap. She has just finished Anna Dressed in Blood after borrowing my copy, and she loved it. So here is hopefully a spoiler-free review...

Anna Dressed in Blood

The story starts off in a guy’s POV, Cas. This dude is a ghost hunter, searching for ghosts who torture and harm the living, and sending them to the afterlife with his trusty athame. Moving to a new town, he stumbles upon a house haunted by a young but very malevolent ghost; Anna Dressed in Blood. Anna, as the stories tell, has killed all who enter her house in pretty gruesome ways but when Cas gets tricked to enter the house, Anna spared him. Intrigued by the young ghost and her deadly powers, Cas tries to figure out exactly who Anna was, why she is haunting the house and why she had spared him. But in the shadows, there is a danger that follows Cas, and he may end up battling forces far more dangerous than he bargained for.

This book has a pot-full of mystery, with a handful of gore, a dash of friendship and a little hint of romance. I genuinely loved this book, and I will read it again (once I have finished my current reading pile which is a wall beside my bed). If anyone loves a good ghost story, or even if you love Darren Shan, then trust me; this book is up there.

Girl of Nightmares

This is the sequel to Anna Dressed in Blood so I will try not to spoil it as much as I can.

After losing someone so very dear to him, Cas is now haunted by visions and hallucinations. Initially thinking he is crazy, Cas then realises it is someone from the other side trying to contact him. While believing being contacted from the other side is impossible, Cas tries to unlock the secrets about the other side. With his friends believing him to be seeing things and with many roadblocks preventing him from learning about the other side, will Cas convince his friends what he is seeing is real and will they find out the truth to his visions and hallucinations? Secrets are uncovered, friendships are tested and a difficult choice is to be made.

Again, this book has the beautiful mystery, this time about my favourite thing; the other side. It has a great amount of action/gore in it and more friendship than romance this time. I personally don’t like romance novels, despite nearly every story and show has some romance plot in it (like Brave for example, thank you Disney!) but since this book mainly revolved around ghosts and mystery, I was very happy. Once you have finished Anna Dressed in Blood, then definitely read this one. My friend is borrowing my copy of this one currently and I am telling you, it is worth a read.

If you guys have any books you have read and loved, and would like me to review it, then please comment the book title and author, and I will read and review it! But I do warn you, it may take me a wee while to get round to posting it. I will put up reviews more book reviews in the future, so maybe you guys could check out my favourites if you have a similar taste :)
