I braved the natural wilderness!

For the past 4 days, I was relaxing away from technology by camping at Castle Crom in Fermanagh. Now, I genuinely love the outdoors and Mother Nature, despite being such a hermit and loving my bed. But the sights at Crom made sleeping on an air mattress and a wildly blown tent completely worth it.

On our first day, we set up camp and walked around, seeing the sights. I got to see the original castle and the 500 year old yew trees! The old castle looked amazing, overlooking Lough Erne. I love old ruins and walking in them, trying to imagine what life must have been like all those years ago (very cold methinks). The yew trees were by far my favourite; there were two yew trees, both 500 years old and both had grown slightly entwined together. Their trunks are so beautiful and you can climb up it easily (which I love doing).

Our second day, my back was sore and creaky cause I wasn’t used to sleeping on an air bed, so I didn’t get much sleep. But we rented a boat and zoomed round the lough! I enjoyed the boat ride as I love being around water; I find it very relaxing. However, disaster struck not long after lunch! The rain came pouring down as we headed to shelter and as a result, flooded the engine. We did attempt to clear the engine and start it up again for about half an hour before phoning for help and waiting until said help came to tow us back to the centre. Despite this, it was a great time! Later that night, we were signed up to find bats. I think bats are really cute but unfortunately we didn’t get to see any live ones. We did get to pick up their chirps on our radio thingy which was cool!

Our third was a little more relaxed. We weren’t sure whether it was going to rain or not, even though the forecast indicated it would rain a lot! Either way, we spent the day in my favourite place; the pool! Like I mentioned before, I love the water but I love swimming even more. Unfortunately, I forgot my earplugs so I couldn’t so all my favourite things in water, but I enjoyed just doing laps the same. After that we dried off and went out to a wee restaurant called Franco’s in Enniskillen! This was an unbelievable find and the food was amazing!! I have done a review here so you can check it out: http://sliverbear.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/review-spontaneous-find-of-little.html

Our final day was mainly just packing up camp. After helping a bit, I ran off to the old ruins and yew trees to get some nice pictures and videos. Once the car was packed, we decided to spend the day in Florence Court, an old estate. It was beautifully restored (and the restoration is still continuing) and we got a tour of the house by the maid! Well the girl who played the maid; she was very good and I recommend anyone visiting to get the costume tour for some good laughs. After checking out the walled garden and packing up the tent, we finally embarked home.

All in all, it was a great time and below are a few of my favourite pictures I took of the place! Enjoy!
